Valderamma Golf Club

Just forty minutes drive along the coast from Marbella is the world famous Valderamma Golf Course. It has been, and indeed continues to be, considered by many within the sport and respective industries the number 1 golf course in Europe. The benchmark by which all other courses are to be judged, according to Golf Monthly magazine (http://www.golf-monthly.co.uk/galleries/11049/1/0/continental-europe-s-top-golf-courses.html)

It is one of the many reasons why Marbella and the Costa Del Sol remains one of the top holiday destinations for golf tourists.

One of the most prestigious courses in the world the famous venue was the home of the Volvo Masters on the European PGA Tour from 1986 – 1998 and hosted one of the most famous Ryder Cups in history as a European team inspired by the captaincy of the late, great Seve Ballesteros dramatically regained the cup from a powerful USA team.

Designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Snr the course is a combination of stern challenges and picturesque scenery providing an awe-inspiring treat for any golf enthusiast. And, despite its formidable reputation the course has been built to accommodate golfers of varying standard, offering 6 separate tees from the imposing Championship tees (course length 6390m) to the front ladies tees (4861m). To stand, club in hand on the tee of the signature hole of the course, the par 5 17th, scene of so many dramatic moments is one of the great joys for all golfers of all abilities.

The club is a traditional private members club but it does allow for visitors on designated days although golfers wishing to play the course are required to be in possession of an official handicap. Valderamma is a golfers golf club, a jewel in the crown of Spanish and Andalusian golf, and a not to be missed treat for the golfers planning to make Marbella and the surrounding areas their holiday destination of choice.
